JRT Super Mario Bros.
Linked below are recordings for an unreleased album of songs from the video game Super Mario Bros. Recorded in the late Summer of 2014 at HearBy Studios in Seattle WA, the Josh Rawlings Trio set out to record updated versions of jazz renditions they did back in 2004 honoring the game music composer Koji Kondo at Josh’s Junior Recital at Cornish College of the Arts.
While this album isn’t commercially available, it is still the intent to re-record and release a full album of this music in the future. These rough mixes from their session serve as the most current example of their concept for the album and what’s possible by expanding the highly memorable music from this game. The music undoubtably had an incredible impression on them as music of their generation, and the concept of doing jazz renditions always appealed to Josh and has been received warmly by people of all ages at their countless performances over the past 15 years playing as a group.
